Galactic Computing’s presence in the United
States dates back to the pioneering days of super-blade server
design. A group of Silicon Valley engineers with the combined
98 years of industry experience in design of milestone systems,
such as Cray X-MP and Y-MP supercomputers, set up an R & D
team to take high performance processing to the new grounds with
the emphasis on use of the commodity components in a novel flexible
platform.
In 2001, developed the first generation of SuperBlade distributed
computer systems, and deployed to Hong Kong Telecom;
In 2002, Galactic setup R&D center in China;
In 2003, Galactic started storage technology research and development;
In 2004, Galactic’s SuperBlade supercomputer became # 1
ranking in the biomedical research field in China;
In 2005, SuperBlade supercomputer system produced by Galactic
is ranked # 100th in the world's TOP500 HPC system list , ranked
# 1 in the in world in computational efficiency among similar
products with Intel Xeon processors at the time;
In 2006, Galactic acquired a leading storage technology platform
from the United States and developed it further for an initial
introduction in China. VSTOR S1000B product was one of the first
storage platforms supporting InfiniBand connectivity for use in
business and scientific HPC systems. Other supported features
include FC-SATA (SAS), SAS-SATA (SAS ), iSCSI-SATA (SAS) and NAS,
etc.;
In 2006, Galactic achieved # 11 spot on the TOP100 list of China's
high-performance computing suppliers with the best result in computational
efficiency overall;
In 2007, Galactic successfully delivered the first phase SuperBlade
and data storage system with Intel quad-core processors to Hong
Kong International Airport, and subsequently provides more hardware
and services for a series of expansions requested by the customer;
In 2008, SuperBlade server and storage systems are successfully
utilized by World Meteorological Organization in the implementation
of the "The 2008 Beijing pre-Olympic Games Demonstration
Project". "Hong Kong Engineer" reported a cover
story on the SuperBlade and data storage system, which is printed
in a later issue of the magazine;
2008,VSTOR,Galactic's leading storage system, is certified by
Shenzhen Science and Technology Bureau and by domestic experts
as conforming to the highest level of international technology
standards;
