Solution Overview
Galactic solution has been successfully implemented in this IPTV multicast system. The customer chose Galactic VSTOR storage system’s iSCSI product and successfully transformed back-end video data storage and security system, they also adopted Galactic VSTOR’s integrated advanced storage functionality which offers a platform with non-stop video processing capability.
To meet the high requirements of video processing on overall performance of server and storage, XX company’s design uses a 3-level video processing model with front stage multi-server multicast, video inquiry dispatch, video data distribution, and back stage data storage, it also includes a back stage data backup system to bring to viewers a completely new video experience
Galactic IP-SAN products feature super fast data transmission, up to 8 Ethernet ports bundling, and effective data allocation and load balancing at storage level. Based on customer’s business needs, Galactic iSCSI can laterally upgrade to and jointly work with FC, InfiniBand, SAS, and NAS transmission protocols. Advanced storage management function embedded in Galactic VSTOR enables users to easily customize multiple paradigm, storage security, and data analysis. Galactic successfully implemented remote copying technology, one of the 7 major VSTOR features, in XX Company’s IPTV project and developed a large scale back stage video storage platform.
All video resources that XX company offers are stored in Galactic iSCSI storage system, video distribution server sends video source signal to front stage multicast server, dispatch server then allocate user inquiries based on user needs and multicast server’s processing capacity. As the source of video processing for the entire system, storage plays the most important role. This requires the storage equipment to have highest system stability and security. Galactic iSCSI’s redundant structure design ensures stable and reliable storage service with excellent performance. In the meantime, Galactic uses iSCSI system’s integrated remote copying function to establish remote copying relationship between the data on two storage devices (copying can be performed through selectable iSCSI, FC, or InfiniBand link), hence ensures there are at least two sets of video source data in the system. When a problem occurs on the running storage device, distribution server and multicast server can directly bypass to the remote storage device so that reliable operation of the entire system is secured.
Besides remote copying feature, Galactic VSTOR storage system features multiple interface protocols, local mirroring, virtual volume copy, virtual disk copy, remote mirroring, and storage protocol routing. In the process of design digital infrastructure, each of these functions can make this infrastructure planning and designing more convenient, automatic, effective, and reliable.
